Aside from the Outback (its configuration), the others compare more closely to the Audi Q5 which starts a lost $10 less than the Allroad. You could throw the Ford Edge/Lincoln MKX into the mix, too. About 18 months ago, I crossed shopped the Edge/MKX, Volvo, Evoque with the Q5 and came away with the Q5 as the winner. It has given 18 trouble-free months while averaging almost 24 mpg with it turbo four in all kinds of driving and I'm a somewhat aggressive driver who doesn't get left at the light. Had the option been available, I'd probably opted for the new diesel which Audi will have on the road here in the fall. I don't deny the allure of the Allroad, but the Q5 is, I think the better choice.

How about comparing the AllRoad with the 3 Series Sportwagon? Both are German vehicles with Teutonic characteristics. They're approximately the same in size, including passenger and cargo space. Comparable in price. I've owned them both, and think both offer that rare combination of great driving satisfaction and functional utility.
