Why are we celebrating this as good news? I thought the automobile was responsible of all the ills facing us like the so called "Global Warming Crisis, over crowded road ways etc.? Should we not be looking at ways to close all automobile manufacturing plants?
PS Playing the devils advocate here :-)

@Matt, because at this stage, any positive job news is a good thing. The actual unemployment / underemployment picture in this country is borderline horrific, and much, much worse than you see in the news.

Kurt.......did you also not read my entire post that I was playing the devils advocate?

Close all automobile plants? Itd be interesting to see those hypothetical newly laid off people take others' jobs. You probably not worried, since it takes virtually no skills to be any military and there's never lay off. Not dissing everyone in military, but we actually work in the automotive industry. Military is responsible for many ills facing us like the so called "too much taxes" What do they really do, any way? Get paid to workout? Aint nobody paying me unless I do the work. Fuss and cry when FINALLY called to fight for our country? We dont cry when we work everyday. and we actually make money and bring money from overseas. Automotive is one of the few industries that actually make us economically strong.

"it takes virtually no skills to be any military"

    Ya just showed your ignorance.
It's also quite evident that you did not read my entire post that I was playing the devils advocate in my original statement.

Locally we just learned Dana is closing its plant in Longview which will layoff 200 workers. This coincides with the closing of the GM truck plant in Shreveport where many more will be terminated.
