My ride was mom's '69 Caddy Fleetwood...and I frankly would have traded the whole evening for a road trip in a three-on-the-tree Econoline with Parker Posey. You done good, Richard, real good. I'd give you a +10 on that one...

Thanks, Charles. I've always had a feeling that I made the right choice skipping prom. Deep down, I think I knew that the Big Night would never be as awesome and memorable as everyone in America kept telling me it would be. The pressure of living up to it kinda scared me.

My ride was a '73 LTD- 2 dr, blue with white vinyl roof. My tux was white with a blue ruffled shirt. My date had matching blue dress. We were the bomb !

For our double date arrancement, it was going to be my Dad's '73 Grand Prix, but then we scored my friend's step-dad's Mercedes 280 sedan, trading power for a prom dress-friendly second set of doors. My date and I rode in the back on the way there but in the front on the way back since my friend's prom proceeded much better than mine. The first time I ever drove a Mercedes though, such as it was.

When i went to my JR/SR prom, in 1969, I got to drive a 69' Camaro Indy Pace Car Replica, with the full decal package installed. It was a 350/auto set-up, but still great fun. The only downside was my date complaining about having the top down ruining her hair.
