    I'm wondering which is better all around engine....the smaller displacement V6 or an I4 EcoBoost?

    @Matt, it really depends how you define better. In my opinion, the larger displacement V-6 is less stressed, but the I-4 EcoBoost returns better fuel economy.

    If I were buying a new Explorer, I'd personally take the standard V-6 over the optional EcoBoost 4

    That is exactly my line of thinking regarding these two engines.
    Right on the money with the V6 for the Explorer as apposed to the EB4.
    Kurt, which do you think more stress on an engine a supercharger or turbo? I know they each have their own merit.

    @Matt, I'm not sure one is any better or worse than the other. Both are forms of forced induction, and the more power an engine makes the more stresses are put upon it.
