How about re-testing people after X number of years? That I think would be a fantastic idea. People should get re-certified to continue driving.

And for crying out loud...make it a significant violation for cruising in the left lane on a highway!!! Anyone here with me? :)

Chad, I agree. But now and then you will see people "cruising" in the passing lane because, in some states, heavy trucks have damaged the starboard lanes badly and the ride and noise are terrible. That is rough if there is a family aboard. If you discover that the other lane has been damaged, be courteous and just flash your high beams from a distance as you approach.

A left hand lane violation is definitely a valid suggestion. Testing people after X number of years is also a good idea.

Yes, these new drivers need their driving education and even these drivers whom have their revoked driver licenses that must take their driver education start over again because there are too many speeding, tailgating, reckless, using cellphones/text messengers, etc. whom have no brains. GOT YOUR BRAIN? DON'T TAILGATE! If anyone get caught with using their cellphone/text messenger, these drivers should have revoke their driver licenses for one year and no cellphone/text messenger revoke for 2 years just like credit card/loan reference whom cannot buy cellphone/text messenger anywhere in USA if new federal law pass by Congress.

Yes hi100 - that goes back to the original plan when youngsters (below age 25, according to insurers) were limited to vocational driving which meant to-from school or work and without youngsters as passengers after dark. The problem is with immature show-off punks. That plan was good until the 60's when parents lost control.

At 40 mph the average driver must process 44,000 discrete sensory inputs a minute; at 60 mph 66000 inputs a minute, at 80 mph 88000, and so forth. The average adult can process about 200 inputs a minute. How 'bout testing applicants for higher levels of situational awareness and such traits as visual acuity -- plus for overall physical, mental, and emotional health? It's no accident that race drivers' body temperatures reach heights that are ordinarily fatal; driving is the most athletic activity most people ever engage in.

Yes, raise the age of getting a drivers license to 21. Tempy License at 18. No drivers license for under 18 years of age.
No school parking lots full of autos. Cheaper to build schools.
Stronger driver school required to get a license. Testing of seniors after certain age and health conditions.
Put your leagal citizenship info on your license, if drivers wants it.
No driver license, period for anyone in this country without proper documents.
Stop supplying drivers info to insurance companies. Revise what fractions of the las goes on your drivers record. And they expire quicker.
Photo Radar tickets do not go on your record, period, unless it is some extreme driving situation.

hi100, do you really think making it so you can't get your license until you're 21 will make things better? That doesn't fix the driver education system.
