I bought a 2001 Ranger new and still have it . It is a capable little machine and my Edge Model could easily drive over curbs , parking lot bump stops and slowing down for speed bumps was unnecessary. Ford has a tendancy of continuing models with few changes for as long as possible so the platform was long overdue like the Dodge Dakota for replacement . Other markets like Austalia had a ute version also named Ranger for years that was built and looked much like the Honda Ridgeline . It was available as a full four door , but Ford in their wisdom is not offering it in the USA. Bad Move ? I guess ! Chevy is reintroducing the Colorado with a catchy new design and will be one of few 4 door mid size options left in the North American Market .

My first "real" ride was a 1981 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT. I had such a great experience with it that years later, I decided to invest in a Ford Ranger -- which promptly left me stranded on the New Jersey Turnpike. Good riddance.

The older foreign built versions were not as reliable .

    Hello to all,
I'm the proud owner of the Mazda Version B3000 Cab Plus for 1998 with 244.350 miles still getting MSRP MPG currently and enjoy it every day. Now I'd like to see a true 4 door Ranger and guess what they do exist in government service as the 2006-2008 Ford Ranger XL 4-Door Utility in service to the National Parks & Wildlife Service (I have pictures). Now why can't Ford remodel a little and put in all the current options that are out there. I just Know myself I will go look at Nissan.

I owned 2 Rangers, each on the road for more than 150,000 miles. I would have bought another but they were gone. F150 looks like crap and proforms even worse. I just bought a Toyota Tacome and am very pleased with it. I have owned 6 new fords in my life, my first was a 66 Mustang convertable, I would say I was a Ford man. Never again, way to go Ford

why is ford doing away with the ford Ranger, have had mine since 1999. (Bought new) yes, I know it a long time but it has been so good to me and it the red that I like. When they are force to come back out with one I will have bought a different brand which will make me very upset, ( I would use stronger words)
