    As an engineer I also recommend that people replace their spare tyre if it is a full size made of rubber. Oxidation will wear out the walls regardless of whether it was used or not. This could be dangerous if you suddenly find a need to use it years later. It is at a higher risk of failure which could cause it to explode in worst case scenarios.
