If the A-3 TDI is rated at 30/42, why is the 2012 Beetle TDI only rated at 29/40? Surely there can't be that great of a difference in their weights.

So a base Beetle will be similar to a base Jetta. Plasticky interior, beam axle rear suspension and the 170 HP 5 cylinder. At first it sounds dissapointing. Somehow though it's not all that bad. 1st the previous "new" Beetle had a beam axle rear suspension. It also came with the 170 HP 5 cylinder. This car has a wider track and it should weigh less then the Jetta and have a shorter wheelbase then the Jetta. It might just handle a little better. It certainly looks miles better then the previous car. Also it does not need no stinkin flower!

will this beetle be much more reliable than the 1998-2011? they really were terrible on this point! i only had one 2001 but it was a terrible auto.....
