It's way past time for this engine option. The Wrangler has suffered far too long with Chrysler's obsolete engine. Give it some grunt with a diesel and offer it without all the fancy "Rodeo-Drive" "Beverley Hills" trim. Hey JEEP, go back to your roots and offer a trim that can withstand the mud and dirt!

THat is a good idea, all that low end torque and good fuel economy, do it Jeep, as soon as possible.

    Hey Nelson,
Where did you get this information from? from Jeep?
Cause I have been hearing that from years now.
There are few models in jeeps that had a CRD diesel but never in Wranglers
I had my fair share of jeep starting with
    1980 CJ7 with 304
    1986 jeep with chevy motor
    2001 with 2.4
now 2008 jeep jk with 3.8
They are making jeep jk in egypt with diesel motor and you will find many pic on the net...but truthfully I have not herd anything from Jeep North America.

The first truck maker (Chrysler, Ford, Toyota, etc.) to come out with an efficient/affordable diesel will be the winner. Offering a diesel engine option in the Wrangler will transform the Jeep brand into a leadership position instead of a laggard.
