    Wasn't the Ford Mondeo a world car? Sold in the US as the Ford Contour.

    you cannot compare dollars to euros,,gas is $3 in usa double in uk!!

    the price leader Jetta in the states does not include the 2.5 motor but the even more archaic 2.0 with just 115hp. This is one of the biggest reasons why they call sell the new Jetta so cheaply. Once you get to the comparable versions of last year's model it's not so much of a cost difference.

    Euros don't have as many cars as we do and have excellent mass transportation alternatives. The extra taxes help pay for social net services when needed. To each his own...
