Rejoice, it's all about cubic inches again! The demise of the sixties muscle car era with the introduction of regulations and insurance risk did however lack the awesome technology of today. The decade of excess ended with my 16th birthday (sigh) along with the ability to purchase 100+ octane gas for 29 cents per gallon. Did our amazingly advanced and high tech vehicles of today shift to the "liters" designation to better communicate globally America’s performance, efficiency and emission friendly vehicles? The EPA must certainly shudder at specifications like 470 hp and 470 lb.-ft of torque from the factory! Sure it must be fun to pull some annoyingly wasteful burnouts and watch the onboard fuel computer read 6 mpg during the first few weeks of ownership. However, to be fortunate enough to own one of the new Challenger SRT-8 392s (please Santa), I would prefer to drive it on a day to day basis too. Dodge should build an unlimited number of "Vanishing Point" SRT-8 Challengers for us “size matters” junkies who fondly remember when speed was cheap and never a Hybrid clogging up our fast lanes - Sigh!
