Ford - you're wasting your time/money. Here in Australia the new Fiesta went on sale about 2 years ago and they just stuck with a standard TV ad campaign, and the car is selling very well.

So what works in Australia always works in the U.S.? I thought Russell Crowe and Kylie Minogue disproved that theory.

Well, Richard, unlike your country, Australia isn't in a recession and our car sales avoided any kind of major slump and are as strong as ever. So maybe you should take notice of what we do here.

Oh we do notice -- I'm a big fan of many marketing campaigns Down Under (the ongoing one for the VW Polo being one of my faves). But I think that precisely because the U.S. is in a different economic situation, Ford is exploring different marketing techniques.

Fiesta Movement would have cost hundreds of millions with traditional advertising avenues. Ford hasn’t disclosed their total Fiesta Movement expenditures, but we would venture to guess it falls short of 1/10th the figure Farley suggested.
