    I think people are too into HP. Older trucks had less hp and were heaver and still got about as good as milage. Just drop the hp and go for better milage.

    @DVDheadrest: Two comments. First, keep it clean, please. And second, I'd love to know what current V-8 makes 30 mpg in mixed use, especially if rated by the EPA. Can you point me to that engine/vehicle, please?

    GM small pickups could use the newer four and six cylinders engines in lieu of their current engines. I am in the market for a small pickup but their engines, keep me from buying one. I like their large pickups but need a small one.
    Anyone have any input on when and what GM plans for their small pickups? thanks.

    Another way to squeeze more efficiency out of the pickup truck lineup would be to offer a six-cylinder diesel powertrain: more power, better towing, better fuel economy.
