    D3's crystal ball has not been right for a long time. US hatchback has not been good sellers because D3 has failed to make them attractive. European car makers sell a lot of their good looking hatchback in Europe. Actaually hatchback are a lot more practical than sedans. I think Fiesta and Focus hatchbacks will be good sellers. Too bad Cruze would not be available in hatchback.

    Great article! Just proves why marketing yahoos are brainless twits. "If we spend $1B building a hatchback, but just avoid CALLING it a hatchback, people will still buy a car they don't like if I call it a Lifestyle Vehicle enough times". This whole segment will crater in one product lifecycle, because no one in the US will buy them. Product line extensions are for toothpaste. My forecast for 2010: Panamera-5K, Crosstour-6K, ZDX-3K, 5 Series GT-3K, X6-3K. Based on those numbers, who can justify the investment made?
