    Fizz above nailed it but I think it's more because of the economic pinch. Many auto manufacturers donate normally, if not the CEO does on a personal level.

    @Jason: The donation didn't come from GM, but from the GM Foundation, which is a separate 501(c)3.
    @Fizz: I think all the Big Three automakers have contributed to Haiti's recovery efforts (e.g. Chrysler: http://www.celebsandcars.com/blog/1041799_chrysler-300-signed-by-300-celebs-and-maggie-gyllenhaal), but the contribution of both cash AND emergency vehicles is really commendable.

    Shouldn't the headline read: "US Gov gives 30 GMC Sierras"...afterall, the US government owns GM anyway.
