Toyota is changing by the day. They just repossessed my Rav4 even when I was able to make arrangements to pay my late payments ASAP. I guess my 2006 is at least still worth something so they'll take it away from a single parent of a kid with medical problems to make their money now.
I've owned only Toyota's for over 20 years with no previous problems. I'm no longer a loyal Toyota customer....

It is good to know that Toyota has already ordered dealers to stop the selling and the production of models that were recalled due to problems with their accelerator pedal. However, we must remember that though the company is making this move to avoid possible future accidents, a recall may not be necessary if it has done its duty of producing quality vehicles that may be safely used by the consumers. All automakers are required to do this in order to avoid possible car accidents that may cause innocent people to die or to sustain severe injuries.

Speculation is that this and the last massive recall are not a mechanical problems involving the accelerator, but a fly-by-wire problem since Toyota uses electronic signals rather than mechanical linkage to relay throttle information to the engine.

I think this is deaper than sticking acclerator pedals. When was the last time a automaker shut them selfs down because there cars where unsafe, never! Toyotas reputation is gone, they should be on the bottom of the pile. And Consumer Reports keeps saying they are good cars? What crap. This is just the tip of the iceburg. I even thing Toyota dosent know what the issue is, could it be electrical, computer issue? what aare they going to do about the tundra frames rusting out? man I willl keep driving my Chryslers and feel safe. I would hate to work at a Toyota dealer right now, but I have a feeling they are brain washed too.

So why do people keep throwing their money at this POS company. Buy a ford or GM.

Just in case you have this happen. Do not simply push on the brake as hard as you can. Push on the brake and take the car out of gear (put it in neutral). Do not attempt to shut the engine off until you have stopped. This recomendation above is not correct.

The sad thing is that most people still believe that toyota makes quality vehicles.

Good that they finally grew a conscience.
