I won't be holding my breath for this to happen. And I DO digg the mustache :)

I think it was Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne who said there will eventually be just 6 carmakers worldwide... only a matter of time i guess.

I agree with Greedo, this is the 2nd longest running soap opera in Deutschland. (# 1 is Emporer Piech) But they're sharing all over the place anyway. They both use the Two-Mode Hybrid system. They both use the same Saft lithium battery for their new mild hybrid sedans. They do it when it's expedient. I think we'll just find it's more expedient more often as the cost of all this shit gets higher and higher and they have to make smaller & smaller cars with lower & lower profit margins.
And Audi won't be a part of it. Audi is part of the VW Empire (see Piech above) and wouldn't touch either of them. Audi is going to sell ONE MEEEL-YUN CARS, haven't you heard? Heh.
There's always the wild card of Peugeot in there too. Isn't the Mini engine shared with Pug?

By not bringing out a more mainstream brand and insisting on a strict luxury path in some markets, M-B has shoehorned itself into a corner.

have always looked at audi as the youngest sibling compared to bmw/mercedes when it comes to reputation/panache. will be curious to see how this all unfolds over the next decade. volkswagon/audi certainly seems to have some momentum.

    wow checkout that mustache.
But seriously, BMW and Mercedes talk about working together and not working together like 100 times a year. It's like a soap opera. Who knows what will come of it.

@david Daimler and Chrysler was a bad mariage to begin with, I think Daimler and BMW have a lot more in common

  • David Posted: 9/16/2009 12:44pm PDT

BMW, dont do it!!!!! Look what happend to Chrysler when they "teamed" up with them. There will be an alterior motive in all this! This will not be another "merger of equals". Dont trust them!
