    I like this comparison. Agree that Porsche nudging out the Nissan is not a huge surprise. However, it being so close while the prices are 20% to 30% apart is the real story (as you point out). 2 years ago, who cares about that price differential. in today's world, that is a big deal.

    I'm not convinced people are really cross-shopping these vehicles. The typical Porsche buyer is buying so much more than just the car - it's about the brand and pedigree too.
    Nissan should be very proud of what they've done with the 370Z but to me they are like chalk and cheese.

    this comaprison is of a 2010 to a 2006 to 2008 987 chassis. Not even a 2009, which has the 7 speed dual clutch transmission and new entertainment electronics. But the picture of the red Boxster is an 09, or the second generation of the 987 chassis. The stats on the Boxster / Cayman are wrong also. I do not think the writer ever drove the Porsche. Amazing.
