Might be worth it if it was quattro. Who the in the hell is going to fork out $30k for a front wheel drive compact car?

However, unlike the Q7 the diesel is the same one in the Jetta TDI that does not need to be refilled periodically with Adblue. Hey Audi, when will Quattro be available on the A3 TDI? That is when it will really be something special. VW believes in not giving customers what they fully want. If they did the Jetta TDI, Golf TDI, and A3 TDI would be available with either the 4 motion or Quattro (all wheel drive systems).

And given that the Golf TDI, also a 5-door hatch, which uses the same platform & engine, is $8K cheaper ... which one is the better value?

People, the $8,000 difference pays for the upgrades including leather and navigation system. I agree that the A3 TDI should come in a quattro version. That would be the deal clincher and most desirable version, especially since VW just refuses to make a Tiguan TDI with 4 motion despite teasing everyone with such a version before it was introduced. For that matter, VW would have been smart if it offered a Beetle TDI with 4 motion as part of the final edition roll out. Such a version would fly off of the lots. Hey VW/Audi of America....please wake up and give us what we desire!
