    This is good news for anyone who knew Penske from his days with Chevrolet. He is a can't-lose guy.

    I can't take credit for the title--one of my colleagues came up with that. However, Penske's approach isn't too different from, say, clothing manufacture: a fashion label designs a line or clothing, then outsources the manufacture to a factory in India or Canada or, occasionally, the U.S. So, there's precedent for Penske's approach in other industries, and it seems to work okay there.

    That's not to say there aren't a number of problems with lifting that set-up and dropping it whole-hog on the auto industry. Quality and safety seem like major concerns that could suffer. Then there's also the logistics of design and testing--where does that fit in?

    Certainly hate to see the Sky discontinued but I suppose I now have a 2009 Sky that is instantly a collector car.

    Agreed, though you have to admit that the thought of a Saturn VUE on the track is pretty funny.

    As a Dodge NASCAR fan I hope this arrangement does not spell the end of Penske Racing and Dodge. Things are bad all over, but Dodge has taken some big hits in NASCAR and the recient announcement by Larry Morgan that he is switching to Ford in NHRA Pro Stock. When thigs were good, Dodge was competitive with all competitors, but thigs are getting a bit iffy although Allen Johnson won Pro Stock last week in a HEMI Dodge.Just hope Penske sticks with DODGE.
