    "Chief Writer"

Totally agree with this post. When I was growing up my mom went through the Mini-van period too. Mainly this was because my parents divorced and dad had the 4 door and mom had the Miata. Hard to get a dog, kid and food in the Miata or it creates some interesting memories and stories. Happy to report we only had a minivan for a couple years. Now she cruises around in a 67 Mustang or the '06 Dodge Ram 2500 4 door Long Bed. Much better...

    "Minivans fill a need"

Wow, that's funny that your mom cruised in a Miata. For the longest time that was my "wish car" when I couldn't afford more than my Dodge Omni. I'll have to differ by a couple of years on the Mustang... I'm a huge '69 Mustang fan. Still have pics of the airbrushed mustangs on the side of the show car at Autorama back in 1984.
I'd love to know how she likes he Dodge Ram... I'm working on a post on pickups as family vehicles, but there are so many choices!

    "not yet minivan ready"

I haven't owned a minivan but I do covet the seats that turn around in the latest Chrysler version. I wonder if people actually use those on long trips ...
