Ed -- Your comments are total garbage. I throw up in my mouth a little bit every time I read your thoughtless posts. The F-Series is still the gold standard for work trucks. The down turn is probably a combination of consumers reacting to gas prices and consumers delaying their purchase of a new full-size truck until the new model comes out.

If I were Ford I would start cutting luxury items out of the base trucks because I see them returning to being work trucks. Merge the platform of the F-150 with the F250 and above. Really the F150 has grown so much it shouldn't be called a half ton anymore. They should also get to work on a compact pickup below the now midsized Ranger for businesses that need a light duty truck. Make a pickup bed an option on the Transit light van. (That thing they're bringing over from Europe as a delivery van)

42,000 a month is still 500,000 annual. There are many vehicles, including all those hybrids, that would love to sell that well.

Ah yes...nothing like reading the well-thought out responses of arrogant automotive elite who think everyone who's intelligent and cultured drive either the BMW 7-series or a Prius.
Guys (and I use the term loosely)...it's ok to not like large cars and trucks, but must you fire tired, over-used, passe insults and characterizations to express your displeasure?
    Have a nice day...

Hahaha!! "barely 42,000" units in one month. Yeah, any vehicle that sells that poorly should be junked...

they never see the writing on the wall, why should they when they know that the government and US consumer will keep bailing them out. There is no incentive for them to make quality products that people want. American consumers that buy them are as intelligent at the people who run these companies. Lets stop the bailouts and then see the type of products that come out of Detroit.

Ford would do much better if, instead of giving away the trucks that nobody wants,
if they closed down four of the pants that make them, as GM did.
Sell your bloated inventory and then JUST STOP MAKING THE effing POS!
I am amazed they do not see the handwriting on the wall!
CIVIC 53,300 sales vs F-150 barely 42,000, in May 08, and worse to come!
