    Recycling is good, but reusing is far, far better.

    MANY cars that end in recycling lots could have been sold and exported to third world nations easily. Esp. from the west coast, where the absence of Rust makes many 30 year old Accords with 200,000 miles and 20 year old buicks (the ones with low miles lil' old ladies drive to church on sundays only) a lucrative export trade.

    Cars last far longer than they used to. My 18-yr old Accord is worth little to trade-in, but if i had to substitute it with a comparable car, I'd pay five times that amount. I was planning to keep it at least until 20, but I'll probably donate it to charity in a few days. Not worth fixing (with US labor and parts prices) if it breaks.
