    Unless your state has emmission inspections, you don't need to replace the stolen cat. Just re-connect the exhaust to the muffler. Or install those straight pipes like on Harleys.

    If they were smart, those chop shops could sell gutted catalytic converters for a fraction of the price of a working replacement. The truck would actually have better fuel economy with the reduced back-pressure. Everybody wins: thieves get their precious metals, drivers pay less at the pump, oh and boomers can enjoy the nostalgia of unfiltered exhaust.

    Wrong... Federal Law states that all vehicles must have a catalytic converter on it. It is illegal to run a vehicle on public highways without one.
