    The above article is wrong in regard to the hp of the C30's engine. The "R" stuff is only cosmetic. The standard (and only) engine in the C30 is the T5 @ 227 hp not 218 hp. The car is GREAT!!! the engine is GREAT!!! but there is no standard 218 hp.

    I've been following this R-Design C30 since I saw it in the 2008 C30 brochure, so when Volvo announced it last week, I contacted them to see how I would be able to option one within their short time frame. Found out I couldn't with this very limited 400 unit build, but they would have the R-Design available in the fall as a 2009. So I'm opting for that to get what I want.
    A correction to your write-up is that the 227 hp engine is not unique to the R version but is standard on all C30s. I think that's why they are calling it R-Design instead of just an R model. Anyway, that's the rest of the story.
