The Greater Los Angeles Auto Show will be the first major international auto show of 2000. When it opens to the public on January 8, visitors will get a chance to view the world debuts of at least 17 vehicles. This week at The Car Connection, we’re offering you this special sneak peek of a handful of the vehicles that will make their debut in a few weeks. Right now, the information is slim, but as we hear more from the auto-show grapevine, we’ll keep you updated.
Oldsmobile Profile
Oldsmobile Profile
GM is slated to introduce 10 concept vehicles worldwide in 2000 and Los Angeles will see two of those vehicles — the Oldsmobile Profile concept shown here, and the production 2001 Pontiac Aztek. The Profile is expected to be powered by the overhead-cam 3.5-liter V-6 engine, and could spell the future direction of a future Olds lifestyle-activity vehicle.
Acura 32 CL
Acura 3.2CL
Acura hopes to take over the lead in the sport-luxury market with its 2001 CL performance coupe. The new coupe will be offered in two guises beginning in March — the 3.2CL and the high-performance 3.2CL Type S, which features sportier handling and a 260-hp version of Acura’s 210-hp, 3.2-liter V-6.
Mazda Tribute
Mazda Tribute
The production-ready 2001 Mazda Tribute is based on the ACTIVEHICLE concept from the recent Tokyo Motor Show. The compact SUV, about the size of a Nissan Pathfinder, offers a 3.0-liter V-6 engine and is slated to arrive in dealerships in the summer.
