Is there anything different about driving a Toyota Prius?
I'm renting a Toyota Prius and I've heard mixed things about how driving it can differ from driving a regular car. This is what the website from the company I'm renting from says about it... "Priuses have unique ignition features. The "key" is a plastic device that should... Read More

There really isn't much to remember, I'll go over some points at the end. - "Priuses have unique ignition features. The "key" is a plastic device that should always stay plugged into the dashboard. Do not remove it! This is "odd" advice at best, unless you want the car stolen. You remove the fob when you leave the car... Read More

yes. That keeping the key in the dash board is crap. it is a piece of plastic with no key, all you need to do is make sure the key is inside the car and it will stay running. with the New prius, you have ECO and PWR modes. Jerry sure likes em. all i can say is don't blip the throttle to the floor from a dead stop and expect to stop fast when it takes off. the gas engine will come on and it will tug strongly against the brakes, dragging the car along if your not fast and hard on the brake pedal. Reference:worked on em, did that

Yeah, it is a little weird when you first drive it but you will get the hang of it in no time. Just don't worry if you can't hear the engine. It will start up again automatically when its needed.

It's that easy. You just won't hear the car when it's stopped or at low demand. Reference:Old mechanic/parts guy

The Volkswagen Jetta gets a new clean-diesel option later this year, and it could have fuel economy of up to 50 mpg or more on the highway--along with a much richer interior and a more conventional sedan shape.
