why does my toyota yaris not hit its top speed?

my toyota yaris hit 97 and wouldn't go any faster, its a 2009 toyota yaris 2 door lift back i wanted to hit 110 like all websites says it does. why does it stop at 97mph?

  • Thats pitiful, my 1994 corolla does 130! There must be a stupid computer that does not want you to go that fast! What engine do you have? the 1.3 liter, 1.5 liter or the 1.6 liter? Also if you have the automatic it will go slower than the manual. Read More
  • In a word - Drag. Perhaps try with a tailwind next time, and/or remove anything from the vehicle you may have added that may cause additional drag.
  • maybe govern limit or lack of power. why do you want to go 110 mph anyways?
