Is a VW Passat a reliable car?

I've came a passat with low miles and 6500. its an 08 and looks clean. i dont no the rep vw has for being reliable. any experiences i should know about?

  • vws are extremely reliable, that is what they have built their reputation on. but, as with all cars make sure it has a service history and have it checked over before you buy it
  • their reliability got a bit shifty from the late 90's to mid 2000's due to mexican outsourced suppliers and the puebla plant. , an 08' should be fine in the reliability department. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybKpFvpvWsA heres a comparison.
