How do you replace a lost key for a 2007 Volvo S40?

We just bought the car and we only had one key, and now we don't have any.

  • Most dealerships have them in stock, but you have to get it there. You buy the KIR (key integrated remote) and have them program the key to the vehicle. Besides the cost, it's an easy process. If they aren't busy you should be outta there in about a half hour. Reference:I'm a Volvo technician
  • The dealer will have to make it. It will be expensive though. A few hundred. The remote costs about 100 and then programming it, they'll charge one hour of labor, which is around 160. Crazy, huh?
  • Contact a Volvo dealer present your registration and serial # the key has to be cut and then programed and it may cost up to $60.
