• First of all the starter isn't connected to the serpentine belt whatsoever, so you can "tap" there all day. Second, newer starters have permanent magnets in them and tapping the starter with a hammer will weaken the magnets, and many times they actually get broken, which then destroys the starter for sure. • could be your alternator or the starter. if you try to jump it and making a good connection then try finding the starter which will be a point on the serpentine belt and give it a whack. if the solenoid is just a little worn then that might make it work and let you know what it is.
• First make sure it's in PARK. Next put it in nutreal and try it. There is 2 defferent switches if it's a floor shifter. One in the shifter and anouther in the column. Could be one of them
• Sounds like a bad starter try tapping if with a hammer as some one trys to start it if it work then buy a new starter.
