what is that little square on the bumper of my 2006 volvo s40?

  • The "square" on the bumper is a towing eyelet cover. In the event that your vehicle breaks down, the towers can remove the cover and use the hook (underneath the cover).   • OH That little square, I am taking a guess here but after reviewing options on the S40 I see a backing assist option. If you have a distance display or lights that say your going to hit something this is the location of the sensor doing the job. it is located on the right rear of the rear bumper....Correct!?
  • Eric is right. It's a tow hook cover. Some Volvo's have it on the front bumper, others have it on the Back bumper. Some have both. Some are black textured, some are the color of the car.
