On the 2005 BMW 3-series, does the gear shift light (the one that moves to P, R, N, D) stay on all the time?
Does it stay on all the time? Or have I hit a button somewhere that keeps it on? Maybe it just stays on until you've taken the key out and shut the door? I don't know.

On your car which is an E46, after closing the doors and locking the car, the computer will go to sleep mode and turn the light off on the transmission shifter cover after 16 minutes.
