How do you get the FWD light on a 1998 Subaru Forester to go out?

I read in the owners manual that this usually comes on during maintenance.

  • Have you had it towed recently? Usually tow companies forget that Subarus are all AWD from '94 (I believe it was '94) on and then drag the car by the front wheels letting the rears roll on the ground and this usually burns up clutches in the transmission, take it to a Subaru mechanic, he'll know what to do.
