i have a suzuki reno 06 and the engine light turns on and it is driving weird. what do i do?

when i make a stop and then press the gas it seems lk am forcing it to go on drive, i also have to press the gass really hard so it can actually start going, and then it will take a while to get the speed back again.

  • In response to the 1st reply, powertrain does not cover check engine lights or any external sensors/switches. Any competent shop can check your light. Given your description it is likely a trans range switch ( it tells the computer what gear you want ). Part is dealer only and runs around $100 installed. Read More
  • if your check engine light is on why haven't you taken it to the dealer? In 06 Suzuki offered a fully transferable 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. transferable means even if your not the original owner your still covered. I highly doubt your over 100,000 miles? Reference:06 Grand Vitara owner

Other Choices:

A well-optioned 2008 Suzuki Reno competes with Suzuki's own SX4, which has standard all-wheel drive, along with better real-world fuel efficiency, handling, and safety than the Forenza. In fact, the Suzuki-made SX4 is better in just about every way but interior space. Kia's Spectra5 is also much more entertaining to drive than the Forenza and has much better fuel economy. Then there's the Dodge Caliber, a more upright design that pays off in a roomy interior; if you're willing to spend more, the Caliber has a wide range of innovative available options, such as fold-out tailgate speakers.
