Is it true that ford explorers break down really easy?

Is it true that they do? Or are people just hating on Ford? Because i just got a 2007 ford explorer. So please tell me what u know..

  • I would say No they don't break down any easier than anything else . The old ford Explorers had some transmission issues in the early 90's . As long as you do routine maintenance and upkeep it should last you for a long time I would recommend Castrol GTX oil religiously and never run it HOT !!! If it is a motor with... Read More
  • We have an 03 and love it. I think it's ford haters that make jokes about them. There are a lot of them on the road and you have to wonder why. I was told today that t explorers, both sport tracs, suv's and even the rangers all have the same engine from 2001 to 2009. Apparently Ford knew that since it worked well... Read More

  • The only thing you have to worry about is the automatic transmission. Get it service regularly and you will be just fine. The engine is pretty much will last you a long time, with proper maintenance.

Other Choices:

If the key elements you want from an SUV are toughness and power, the 2007 Ford Explorer is probably the best way to go. The Grand Cherokee, Pathfinder, and 4Runner are all better choices if off-roading is a priority, but all three rivals aren’t as roomy inside, in terms of usable space, as the Explorer. In general, the Explorer also tops GM offerings such as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer or the GMC Envoy, which haven't received much of an overhaul since they were first introduced.
