How to set timing on 1987 Suburban?

1987 Chevrolet Suburban, 5.7 V-8 Throttle body, non HEI. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I removed the distributor and did not mark location. It has not been turned over since reinstalled. I replaced spark plugs and wires. Each one at a time.

  • It really depends on what you did to need to set the timeing. If you never moved the distributor then you should never need to adjust it at all. • if you remover only the distributor cap, it should be easy. There is a brown wire that runs from the distributor to a panel on the Passenger side of the firewall, it is held on by wing nuts. unplug the brown wire and set timing with timing light, then reconect wire and your good to go.
  • You cannot set timing it is automatically adjusted by the computer.
  • With the EST wire un hooked, set timing to 0* using a light Then plug EST wire back together

Other Choices:

When facing off against the two full-size SUV imports, a properly equipped 2009 Chevrolet Suburban can tow five tons, besting the Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada in this important category. Other options include the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator. The most serious competitor is the Expedition. In particular, the Ford Expedition EL (extended length) offers some useful features and trim styles the Chevy Suburban doesn't, and it arguably has an even better ride with just a light passenger load.
