info on 05 pontiac vibe pcm replacement?

is this covered by warranty at all through toyota? some say yes, others no. my pontiac dealer says its not his problem. half my car is "toyota"...and it cost me 600 bucks to fix it. not quite sure what to do....

  • Even though the car is basically a rebadged Matrix... Toyota has no reason whatsoever to warranty anything on the car. It is a Pontiac and therefore any warranties fall under Pontiac's warranty guidelines. That being said, an 05 Pontiac Vibe would not be covered under warranty no matter what. • No, it's not Toyota's problem. That's like going to Nissan and asking them to cover you Hyundai. Granted the car is basically a Toyota it's still not their problem. Have you tried another Pontiac dealership? How long is your warranty for? If the car is out of warranty then you're out of luck.

  • What led you to believe your PCM needs replacement? They are quite reliable as a rule. If you describe your problem with the car we may be able to find an easier, cheaper solution. Reference:experience and research

Other Choices:

The Toyota Matrix is very similar to the Pontiac Vibe. The Mazda 3 has a stiffer ride, and its cabin allows more road noise. The Kia Spectra5 is a bit perkier and more fun to drive, but like the Mazda 3, it doesn't have available all-wheel drive. AWD is standard on the Subaru Impreza, which is more expensive and isn't as roomy or fuel-efficient. However, the Impreza has an attractive interior design for the hatchback and a torquey horizontally opposed engine, along with better safety ratings (the Impreza is an IIHS Top Safety Pick). Electronic stability control is standard on the Matrix, but not available on any of these other models.
