Smoke from the bonnet of my 2001 Audi TT 225 coupe. Whats the cause?

Hi. On the weekend, my Audi TT just started billowing white smoke from the bonnet as i was on the motorway. The warning signs were a loud rattling noise. My mate is looking at it now but what im wondering is, what could be the cause and will it be expensive to fix? Thanks. Read More

  • White smoke? Was there a kind of burnt sweet smell? There is a coolant leak somewhere, don't drive the car until this is looked at and repaired. The rattling could have been your engine overheating. I hate to say it but the damage might already have been done. I hope this car is not that old and still under warranty. Read More
  • Although it could be steam the rattling noise is rather worrying. The engine is not easy to get at and will certainly have to be removed for anything serious so yes it's going to be expensive.
  • if u over heated it ur looking at around 4500 to fix or buy a new engine so its Better to just buy a new car Reference:i have a audi a4 b6 2002
