Dodge Caliber? Would you buy one?

I am thinking of buying a Used Dodge Caliber, but have heard they have had lots of transmission problems. I would appreciate any input from some Caliber owners.

  • I would not buy one used, even though I bought one new last year and have had no problems with mine last year. It is quite comfortable for me and fun to drive, but it seems cheaply made. Read More
  • I bought a used one in 2007. It has 15K on it when I bought it. It now has around 65K miles on it. I have had no transmission problems yet. The rack and pinion went a few days after I brought it home. But it was under warranty. I haven't had any problems since. I haven't had any mechanical problems yet. But the other... Read More

Other Choices:

Each of these vehicles has very different styling and design inside and out, except the Vibe and Matrix, which are mechanically identical to each other. The Kia Spectra5 should be a better choice than the Dodge Caliber if you're looking for better handling and a peppier driving feel; the Versa also handles well without any sacrifice in ride quality. Its competitors have to make far fewer trips to the gas station, but none of this field gets top marks in safety across the board.
