  • The most common problem is the steering gear, not the pump. Since the pump is new then they will likely have to order and install a steering gear.   • They should have bled the system of any trapped air when they replaced the pump. It needs to be taken back and don't leave until it is done right. Reference:Over 40 years repairing and restoring cars.
  • You can try to bleed it yourself. Jack the front end up and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and right a couple of times. You may want to do this slowly with the fluid cap open.
