  • Sounds like you have a bad oxygen (or o2) sensor. The light will stay on until the problem is fixed. That is your cars way of letting you know something is wrong. I suggest you get it fixed. Bad o2 sensors cause bad fuel economy. Good luck. Reference:Custom Truck Owner Car enthusiast 15 years
  • any vehicle produced after 1997 has obd2 - emissions - diag. you can take it to your local repair shop - dealer - etc... and have it checked for any codes and after repairs it can be cleared. also - you can purchase a diag tool at most parts stores and check fail codes yourself - repair - and clear codes.
  • disconnect the battery cable for a couple minutes it will reset, if it comes back on there is a reason its still on
  • disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Or you could buy a code reader for about $40
