Mazda's sporty compact sedan and wagon continues for 2007 with some exterior/interior tweaks including body-colored grilles, redesigned front bumper with square fog lights and LED-style combination rear taillights. Inside, both versions have new-design rear armrests with integrated cup holders for rear seat occupants. In the sedan, rear cargo space side and end trim have been modified to allow larger items to be loaded more easily. A trunk lid recess on top of the bumper has also been added to make it easier to open the trunk lid. Audio systems have been upgraded with an auxiliary audio input and 12-volt power outlets are now standard for all models. A 148-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine continues to power the base version, while the "s" models offer a 2.3-liter four-cylinder that generates 156 horsepower. (In both cases, "on paper" power is slightly lower than last year due to changes in the way engine power is measured and rated—but the '06 and '07 versions of these engines are essentially the same.)  A five-speed manual transmission is standard; the base model can be fitted with a Sport AT four-speed automatic, while the S offers a five-speed automatic. Both have manual shift capability. Available features include anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, front-side and side-curtain airbags, a Bose audio system, heated leather seats, a navigation system, Sirius satellite radio and high-intensity xenon headlamps. Stability and traction control remain available optionally. The top-of-the-line Grand Touring model features a leather interior, premium sound system, high-gloss finish 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing front windshield wipers and automatic on/off headlights.
