Italian supercar maker Lamborghini plans to build only 20 of its new Murcielago LP 640 Roadsters “for select and exclusive customers,” said CEO Stephan Winkelmann during the 2006 Los Angeles auto show debut of the high-performance two-seater.

Based on the LP 640 Coupe, the new model is striking in its asymmetrical design, adding new front and rear bumpers, as well as a new rear diffuser and taillights. But the classic Lamborghini gull-wing doors remain.

The interior is tailored to the driver and for those who can’t push the 640-horsepower rocket to its limits, there are plenty of high-tech toys with which to keep occupied, including a Kenwood audio system with DVD, MP3, and a 6.5-inch video display.

The Roadster is powered by a 6.5-liter V-12 with 640 hp. The supercar sprints from 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 205 mph. Like other Murcielago models, the open-top car features permanent four-wheel drive.
