Fit to be carried over, mostly.

2008 Honda Fit Sport
2008 Honda Fit Sport  |

Honda's Fit is its entry-level car. It's a subcompact five-door hatchback sedan that slots in below the Civic.

Designed to be small on the outside, but big on the inside, the Fit has a roomy, five-passenger-capable interior with signature "magic seat" layout that makes it possible to carry objects as large and unwieldy as a standard-sized bicycle.

The Fit comes with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder VTEC engine developing 109 horsepower, with either a standard five-speed manual or available five-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The Fit is a high-efficiency model capable of returning 34 mpg on the highway and 28 mpg in city driving, based on the EPA's new fuel economy test.

The base model comes standard with side curtain airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, power windows, mirrors and door locks, as well as an AM/FM stereo with a single-disc CD player.

A Sport model can be ordered that comes with 15-inch wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifter controls (automatic-equipped models), rear spoiler, body kit, cruise control, and a 200-watt audio system with six speakers, MP3/WMA playback and auxiliary iPod input jack.

Tire pressure monitors are standard for 2008.
