GMC's new heavy-duty truck, introduced as a 2007 model, changes little for the 2008 model year. It shares its essential pieces with Chevrolet's Silverado heavy-duty trucks, along with some mechanicals from the big GM SUVs (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade).
This year, the lineup includes 3/4-ton and one-ton models, the 2500HD and the 3500HD. There are three cab styles from which to choose, three bed styles, and five different wheelbases to customize the truck to specific work needs. GM says the Sierra is tops in many categories, including gross vehicle weight and maximum towing capacity, which checks in at 16,700 pounds.
The 2008 Sierra HDs get standard XM satellite radio, and an available power driver seat on regular-cab models. Duallie models get 17-inch wheels. And all versions get two new colors: Dark Crimson Metallic and Sonoma Red Metallic.
