H2
Carving only slightly less of a menacing profile on the road than its larger sibling, the H1, HUMMER's H2 is derived from the Chevrolet Suburban and offers its own military flavored styling that's about as subtle as an armored assault. For 2005, the H2 gains a slight power boost and sports a new SUT version that combines aspects of a sport-utility vehicle and a pickup truck. Its 6.0-liter V-8 engine is now rated at 325 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque, and continues to drive all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and rugged full-time 4WD system. Meanwhile, the SUT is derived from the Chevrolet Avalanche, and shares that vehicle's "midgate" configuration that allows it to convert from what amounts to a full-size SUV with a large enclosed trunk to a standard-bed pickup truck. A large "Sky Roof" sunroof provides an open-air feel. Low-range gearing and a locking rear differential are included across the line for off-road enthusiasts, and an air suspension is available to smooth the ride over both back roads and highways. Numerous comfort and convenience features are standard and an assortment of both functional and styling accessories are offered.
