For 2000, the 911 Turbo is back with a 3.6-liter flat-six producing 420 horsepower, routed through an all-wheel drive system similar to that available on Carrera 4 and Carrera 4 Cabriolet models. The 911 also is available in two-wheel-drive Carrera and Cabriolet guise, with the same 3.4-liter 296-horsepower flat-six as the Carrera 4 models.
Boxster
A reinterpretation of the quintessential roadster, the Boxster is revised significantly for 2000 with a displacement increase in the base engine from 2.5 to 2.7 liters. The increase provides 16 more horsepower for a total of 217 from the flat-six powerplant. A higher performance Boxster S model gets a reworked suspension and a 3.2-liter 252-horsepower flat-six.
