While Leo DiCaprio tools around the red carpet in his Prius and just about everybody else plots their arrivals in Audis, Bentleys, and Benzes, a German TV network will cover this year's Academy Awards ceremony in a specially-tuned Cadillac Escalade with some STAR FORCE of its own.
The Geiger Cars ProSieben STAR FORCE Escalade is based on Cadillac's ESV version of the bling-friendly ute. Built by Geiger, the major modifications include a 20-horsepower upgrade to the Cadillac 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8, 24-inch wheels, a lowered suspension, and a new paint scheme denoting the ProSieben sponsors. The hood ornament is based on the figure of ProSieben TV host Annemarie Warnkross.
Inside, the 'Slade gets red and black leather seats, a partitioned interior that can be used as a screen for the installed Toshiba projector, a 1000-watt stereo system, and a modified floorpan that increases rear leg room. A huge Webasto sunroof enlightens the interior.
We're sure Ted Turner wouldn't sign off on a vanity project like this one - but then again, how does one explain CNNSi? Look for the Geiger 'Slade at the Academy Awards on Sunday, February 25, 2007, or at their Web site, http://www.geigercars.de.
