For us automotive journalists, the new year has a tendency to start off with the proverbial "bang." That's because of the North American International Auto Show. By latest count, I'm expecting to see more than 60 new cars, trucks, concepts, and crossovers crowding intoDetroit's Cobo Hall. That will even include some Chinese entries, certainly a sign of things to come.
Readers of TheCarConnection.com have been getting a sneak peek at some of the show's most important announcements. In a curious trend, carmakers like Ford, GM and Toyota have begun to provide previews of their previews. That means we've already reported on exciting new show cars, like the Jaguar C-XF, Toyota's FT-HS, and Jeep's Trailhawk, as well as production models, including Cadillac's restyled CTS and BMW's 3-Series Convertible.
But don't think all the suspense is gone. It's one thing to see the pictures on the printed page or a computer screen. It's another thing entirely to get your first glimpse of the Chevy Camaro Convertible sitting, in all its glory, on the show floor. So we expect the media turnout for the Detroit Auto Show will be as big as ever.
